New home plants

Hello friends. I hope your weekend is going well! I’m back with another look at the new ‘potted plants‘ collection from Clarity Crafts – this time combining the plants with their co-ordinating Alphabet set. I decided to go with a new home theme on this one, using all the plants in the set – a bit of a change from Friday’s card when I only used one of them!

I said the other day that there are quite a few green themed challenges around at the moment, so I’m planting this card in a few more – Colorful Options, Color Dare and Just Us Girls.

The first step was to create a raised frame on a 6×6 card blank, using a combination of Clarity’s square and nested square embedders. I’ve done this few times (love the effect for CAS cards) and there’s a detailed step by step in my take the trails… post if you want to check it out.

Having got the frame I stamped the bottom row of plants with the outline images. To get them nicely in a row, I lined them all up on Clarity’s 7×5 inch mega mount, using the etched lines on the mount as a guide and them stamping them all in one go. I added the hanging basket in the centre of the top row, finishing with the repeated plant pot on either side (I needed 7 pots for this and there are only 6 in the set!). Next was to fill in each of the pots with the matching stamps and ‘pumice stone’ Distress Oxide, stamping directly from the ink pad so they looked a bit textured.

I then had great fun adding the leaves with the infill stamps – I think I used just about every shade of green in my Distress Oxide ink pad collection, with ‘lucky clover’, ‘mowed lawn’, ‘iced spruce’, ‘evergreen bough’, ‘rustic wilderness’ & ‘peeled paint’! Finally, I added the letters into the pots.

This is a great way to personalise cards for any occasion!

  1. What a clever way to add the sentiment to your card, Deborah. Those little plants are the cutest. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Just Us Girls.
