Kon-nichiwa! Clarity Crafts have declared March to be Japan month, celebrating all their fabulous oriental designs, but for now I’m still playing with their new ‘Japanese flowers & butterflies‘ sampler set that launched yesterday.

I’ve pulled a couple of challenges together on this one – the butterflies and blooms pick up two of TripleB‘s elements and I’ve added in a faux stitched edge for Make My Monday

I cut a piece of card to fit a 5×7 card blank, then lined up Clarity’s ‘framework circles‘ stencil on it. I brushed ‘tumbled glass’ Distress Oxide through the stencil and outlined the circles with a micron pen. Next was to stamp each of three butterflies into the circles using ‘wilted violet’, ‘picked raspberry’ and ‘salty ocean’ Distress Oxides. I wanted to add the flowers from each butterfly’s set as well, so used the outer part of a moon mask to cover the edge of the circle.

I popped two of the sentiments between the circles with black Archival ink, then edged the topper with a black Sharpie and used a micron pen to add a dotted frame of faux stitching. I then simply attached it to the 5×7 card blank.

I’ve had a great time playing with these stamps ahead of their release, but I think you might see them featuring again over the next couple of days!

Lovely design – I like the way your used masks to create on ‘over-the-edge’ feel to the stamps in the circles. xx
