CAS Colours & Sketches 555 – spring colours

Welcome to Tuesday and our new challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and Nancy has given us a delicious palette to play with! I’ve kept it petite on this one, just using a couple of the stamps from Clarity’s ‘mini hobbies – corners & flourishes‘ set; these are such pretty little floral sprays and my CAS design fits the brief over at AAA Cards

I started by embossing a frame onto the front of a 5×5 card blank using a square embedder. I stamped the single bow into the corner and cut a little mask for it from Clarity’s blank material. Having covered it over, I added the floral spray each side of the bow using black Archival ink, then coloured it all with Pergaliner pencils. Now, you can see from the photo that I originally shaded the bow with a lemon coloured pencil, but I didn’t think it looked balanced against the pink flowers. I did go over it with an eraser pencil, but it didn’t take all the colour out and, as the Pergaliners are blending pencils, adding the pink on the top would create a new tone (not what I wanted!)

Instead, I stamped the bow again onto a bit of scrap card, coloured it with the pink Pergaliner and fussy cut it, so that I could glue it into place over the first one. I ran a black Sharpie around the edges of a KISS word sticker and popped that into place too.

So you’ve got two options there for adding the bow to the card, although it cetainly hadn’t been my plan to use both on the same card! Do come and join us at CAS Colours & Sketches and show us how you’ve put these lovely colours to use.
