Clarity Craft Club – caravan stamp

Hello everyone. We’re getting towards the end of the month, so it’s time I shared the February Craft Club stamp from Clarity Crafts with you – it’s a fun little caravan drawn by the very talented Linda Williams. I decided that the colours on Inkspirational‘s moodboard would be ideal, and based my layout on the sketch at Atlantic Hearts, rotating it through 90 degrees. Adding the little hearts along the bottom also captures the ’embellishments’ theme at Cardz4Galz – read on for the full details…

The first step was to stamp the caravan onto one of Clarity’s small squares of stencil card (it fitted perfectly), then cut a mask for it from their blank mask material – the easiest way to do this is to stamp the image on scrap paper, lay the mask material over and then cut it out. That way, you have the piece of backing paper still as a carrier sheet for your mask. Once I’d done that, I used the little clouds mask from the ‘build a scene’ set, brushing ‘salvaged patina’ Distress Oxide across it for the sky, followed by ‘pumice stone’ for the ground.

I shaded in the caravan using Pergaliner pencils, plus Dorso oil on a blending nib to smooth out the grainy appearance of the pencil colour. I also added a shadow beneath the caravan with grey Polychromo pencils

I went with one of the Pinky Gray word stickers, edged with a black Sharpie, then embossed a frame on the front of a 5×5 kraft card blank using a square embedder before attaching the topper. The final touch was to add three little Glossies hearts to pick up the final elements of AHSC’s sketch.

This fun cararvan looks totally ready for the summer festivals, don’t you think? We had a little caravan when I was a child, which my parents towed when we headed off on holiday, but it certainly wasn’t as pretty as this one!
