Hello there and welcome to our next challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches, which is a great layout from Suzy. I haven’t played with Clarity‘s silhouette stamps for a while now, but they work really well with the sketch and the ‘clean & simple masculine’ theme from The Paper Players – I took the motorbike image from the ‘Just Silhouette Framers Sampler‘ set and the trees from the ‘Just Woodland & Birds Silhouette Framer‘ stamps.

I wanted to overlay the two images on a small square of Clarity’s stencil card, so needed to stamp the motorbike first and then mask it. I wanted to make sure the two images were positioned to balance each other, so put both stamps onto the card (one on top of the other) to line them up. I could then use a small Clarity mega mount to pick up the motorbike stamp, lining up the markings on the mount with the card edges. That way I could stamp the bike back down exactly where I wanted it (I moved the tree stamp out of the way first!)

So, having stamped the motorbike with Versafine Clair black ink, I cut a mask for it from Clarity’s blank mask material, covered it over and added the trees behind. I’d applied ‘broken china’ and ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxides directly to the stamp, blended them out with a spot-on sponge and gave it a good spritz with water before planting it behind the bike. After lifting the mask, I shaded the motorbike with Pergaliner pencils.

I felt the tree silhouette needed a little more definition against the balck of the motorbike, so went round the outer frame with a micron pen and ruler, then edged the topper itself with a black Sharpie. I embossed a frame onto the front of a 5×5 card blank using a square embedder, then simply attached the topper and finished with a suitable sentiment from ‘Barbara’s word sticker collection‘.

Don’t you think this just evokes the sense of a ride on the open road?

You do have the most interesting stamp collection! The contrast between the softness of the trees and the starkness of the motorbike is striking. Thanks for joining in my CAS Masculine challenge at The Paper Players this week. 🙂

My b.i.l. would love this. He was motorcycle mad before illness prevents him from riding. Great masculine card.

This is such a great card Deborah; I love the way you combined the elements as per the sketch. Great contrast between the detail of the motorcycle and the loose wooded scenery too. A fabulous CAS card – so glad you shared with us over at The Paper Players this week!
