quarterette views

Hello crafty friends and welcome to Monday! The fantastic Half Price Members’ Sale at Clarity Crafts is into it’s final day, finishing at midnight tonight, so there’s still time to grab a bargain if you’re a member of one of their Craft Clubs – and still time to sign up today to one and join in the last few hours of the sale! I have to confess that I don’t think I’ve ever used these little ‘room with a view quarterette‘ dies before – they’ve just been sitting in a folder so time to dust them off into action! They’re called quarterettes because, guess what, they’re a quarter size of the full sized dies, which makes them great for smaller cards and mini makes, although I’ve used three of the four on this card, thanks to the colours at Inspire.Create and the layout from Just Add Ink.

The first step was to cut the three dies into black card, trimming them down with my guillotine – they’re aperture dies so don’t have an outer cutting edge. I found a pink & blue offcut of Amazonia designer paper, so mounted all three onto that, which wasn’t too difficult as I’d remembered to back the card with Stick It’s thin double sided adhesive sheet before cutting them, so I only needed to peel off the backing paper. I wanted the sun and houses to stand out more from the background, so opted to paper piece them (not as easy as it sounds with these little dies!) It’s a great way to use up scraps of paper, though, which I also backed with Stick It adhesive sheet, then left the pieces in the die and picked them out one at a time to the stikc them into the scenes.

For the background, I took a square of card that I’d cut to fit on a 6×6 blank and brushed ‘squeezed lemonade’ Distress Ink through Clarity’s ‘sunshine‘ stencil before mounting it on black card. I glued the three diecuts into place, rotating Just Add Ink’s layout. I finished with a couple of the bird stamps and a sentiment from the ‘just woodland & birds’ stamp set.

These are such pretty scenes, designed to appear that you are looking through a window – the full sized dies are equally great too!
