Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s Christmas card! I haven’t used Clarity Crafts‘ ‘joy to the world bauble‘ stamp set for some years now and it definitely deserved to see the light of day again (and it’s in the Half Price Sale if you’re a Craft Club member). I opted to go with the black, gold & white from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, the ‘d for die cut’ theme at ABC Christmas and ‘anything goes’ from Peace on Earth; there’s also a new challenge arrived called Neglected Stuff for sharing things that have sat in our stash for too long.

Clarity have also produced some fab die cut toppers to fit this stamp set, so I started by stamping the outline image onto one and heat embossed it with WOW’s superfine gold powder. I then switched to the infill stamp, lined it up over the top of the outline image, and sponged ‘black soot’ Distress Oxide onto it, avoiding the sentiment banner across the centre (I used the edge of the sponge to ensure it was wiped clean). I must admit, I used my stamping platform for this stage of the process as I suspected I may need to stamp the infill more than once, as the ink is much lighter when it’s sponged on rather than added directly from the ink pad (and I was right!!)

That was the majority of the work done! I then attached the topper to a black 6×6 card blank, but decided it needed something a little more to lift it. Out came my ‘lattice‘ doodle frame-it panel dies so that I could cut a frame from gold card – I used two of the dies for this, as they only have one cutting edge on the outside, but that has helpfully left me a with a smaller gold panel for future use! For once, I’d remembered to put Stick It thin adhesive sheet on the back of the card before cutting it, so it was an easy matter to just peel off the backing paper and stick it down around the edge of the topper.

Gold is always difficult to photograph, so here’s a close up to pick up the lovely sheen on the nativity scene!
