summer deer

Hello crafty friends. The weather here has been miserable this weekend, so I thought we’d look ahead to sunnier days courtesy of one of the new postcards produced by Clarity Crafts for Janice Phillips’ new Timestamp Creations. As I’ve mentioned before, the images are taken directly from photos Janice took herself and they’ve given us some fantastic designs to work with.

I took the landscape deer postcard from the pack, masked off the border with low tack tape and popped one of Clarity’s moon masks into place. I then brushed ‘broken china’ Distress Ink across the clouds mask to create the sky.

I switched the moon mask for the outer part and gently sponged ‘squeezed lemonade’ and ‘wild honey’ Distress Inks to create the sun.

Now, although I’d gone to the trouble of masking the borders on the postcard, I decide to change tack and cut it down to a square so that it fitted on a 6×6 card blank. It needed framing, so I grabbed one of the nested square doodle aperture frame-it dies and cut it into the front of the card blank. I then added a piece of black card to the inside of the card, so it showed through the die cut and then attached the topper to the front.

These postcards are so very versatile for creating different looks – this is quite a change in style from the magpie one I shared on Friday.
