woodland frames Christmas card

Hello friends and welcome to this week’s Christmas card – six weeks in and still on track! Barbara was showcasing Clarity‘s personalised frame stamps at the weekend, (which are perfect for putting your name on the back of your creations) and I thought I’d make use of one of the co-ordinating frame sets for today’s card. I’ve used a couple of sources of inspiration, taking the layout from Sunday Stamps, the winter theme from Four Seasons, plus ‘anything goes’ from The Holly and Ivy.

I started with one of the small squares of Clarity’s stencil card and stamped two of the frames from the ‘woodland frames‘ set with black Archival ink. They’re actually designed for you to stamp your name and ‘handmade by…’ inside them, but I thought they worked with the layout from Sunday Stamps. I then cut a mask for the oval frame to cover the outer area, popped one of Clarity’s ‘mini moon‘ masks into the sky area and then lightly sponged ‘tumbled glass’ and ‘faded jeans’ Distress Oxides into the aperture to create my winter scene. Having removed all the masks, I cut the card down with one of the ‘dots‘ doodle frame-it panel dies.

I added a mount of Antarctica companion paper before attaching the topper to a 5×5 card blank. I stamped the sentiment from the ‘SHAC baubles – Merry Christmas’ set, masking off each half of the sentiment before inking so I could sit the words on top of each other rather than in a straight line. The final touch was to run over the trees and the landscape with a Quickie glue pen before scattering it with Perga glitter to make it feel really Christmassy!

It’s intresting – I’m not necessarily using specific Christmas stamp sets as part of my personal card making challenge and I’m enjoying repurposing the ones I’m working with at the time. Definitely a good way to get more value out of your stash!

  1. That’s a cool card and it wouldn’t have occurred to me to combine the stamps like this. An idea I am going to keep and use one day.
