CAS Colours & Sketches #553 – colours

Hello there and welcome to our next challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches – Nancy has give us this great palette to work with, which I thought would be ideal for a Valentine’s themed card using the ‘love grunge elements‘ stamps from Clarity Crafts.

I’ve managed to combine a few other challenges into this one too – not bad for such a CAS card! The Valentines theme at Festive Friday was an easy start, picking up

pink, red, square card, hearts & love sentiment from their inspo list. Time Out‘s request to ‘pick two’ of their word challenge gave me heart & love, and the moodboard at The Paper Players speaks for itself.

So here’s my process… I started with a 5×5 card blank and embossed a frame on the front using one of Clarity’s square embedders, before stamping the grungy heart into the centre using ‘red geranium’ Archival ink. I shaded in the design with Pergaliner pencils, picking out the flowers in pink and using a bright green for some of the little accent circles.

I finished by adding the small solid heart and the sentiment in ‘mowed lawn’ Distress Oxide (my closest colour match to the ‘summer splash’).

Now, these colours aren’t exclusive to Valentine’s cards – come and share your take on them with us in the CAS Colours & Sketches gallery!
