Ani’s folk art sampler

Hello there and welcome to Monday’s post. I’ve still been working with ‘Ani’s folk art sampler’ stamps from Clarity Crafts – this one reminds me of the ‘strawberry thief’ design by William Morris and I decided the colours from Color Hues and Inkspirational would really work (they’re running a joint challenge this time round.) The tones also work for the moodboard over at Colorful Options.

First step was to emboss a frame onto the front of a 5×5 card blank with one of Clarity’s new nested rectangle embedders – I used the inner edge of the embedder which gave me a raised edge, rather than debossed.

I stamped the infill image into the centre of the embossed area using ‘red geranium’ Archival ink, then switched to the co-ordinating stamp to add ‘kitsch flamingo’ Distress Oxide into the background. These stamps are really easy to line up – I lay the second one over the first image and you can clearly see when it’s positioned correctly and the image is in focus. I then align my stamp mount with the edges of the card when picking up the stamp on it, which means I can go straight back down again once it’s inked.

I thought the clever corners stamps would frame the image nicely and found the perfect one in the ‘honeysuckle’ set, again stamping it in the ‘red geranium’ Archival. To finish, I embossed another frame with a rectangle embedder – and then decided to stop!

I love the dimension the embedders create on CAS cards, without adding extra layers.

  1. Beautiful card Debs and love the archival inks although I do not own many! Lovely colour. I have most of the embedders but not had much success using them as yet but I will persevere with them!! xx

  2. What lovely block and corner stampings – everytime I look at the block one, I see another image that I didn’t see at first glance! Thanks for sharing with us at the joint Inkspirational/Color Hues challenge – Red/pink! Julia xx

  3. Deborah, your folk art sampler is beautiful; wouldn’t it be fabulous as a cross-stitch pattern? I’d stitch it up exactly as you’ve done on your card; the design is eye-catching. Thank you so much for joining us in the Colour Hues + Inkspirational collaboration.
