folk art gnome

Hello friends. I hope you’re having a good weekend so far… I realised that I hadn’t made a Christmas card so far this week, with everything else going on (work, baby cuddles with the new grandson, more cuddles, etc), so decided to see what I could do with one of the stamps from Clarity‘s new ‘Ani’s folk art sampler‘ set, inspired by the sketch at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. And I got to add in one of my favourite letterbox gnomes too, thanks to the theme at Make My Monday.

I started with a die cut circle of white card and repeat stamped the image (it’s the one second from the bottom on the right of the stamp sheet) in ‘sky blue’ Archival ink. to cover the circle, I first stamped the full image into the centre then went above, below and to each side, before finally using the corners to fill in the last little bits.

I went for an A6 card blank for this one and embossed one of the rounded corner embedders onto the front first, then added the stamped circle and a strip of Antarctica companion paper.

I stamped & die cut the gnome, coloured him with Pergaliner pencils, then added the mini sentiment – the rectangle stamp pen was perfect for this! After gluing a little scrap card onto the back of the gnome for a bit more dimension, he sat nicely on the card front.

So I’ve managed not to break my Christmas card resolution – although it was a bit of a close one this week!
