Hello everyone! So the festive season ends today (it’s the Christian festival of Epiphany, celebrating the arrival of the Wise Men/Magi) and normal life is resuming, which hopefully means I’ll know what day of the week it is each morning…! Barbara & Paul are launching these brilliant seasonal ‘build-a-wreath’ stamps at 3pm this afternoon (check it out here) and I’ve once again put the ‘winter’ set into action. In contrast to yesterday, though, it’s not a Christmas card – these little stamps are just so versatile! I’ve based my card on the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and will also share it at Word Power as the sentiment is a focal point.

I started by tracing an outline onto a piece of stencil card using the ‘heart shape‘ stencil. I could then position the sentiment from the ‘Quotes set 1‘ stamps using ‘uncharted mariner’ Distress Oxide. The next step was to start building the wreath, so I took two of the leafy stamps and alternated them around the outline of the heart using ‘peeled paint’.

I built the wreath outline a bit further with more leaves & berries, this time usuing ‘bundled sage’ & ‘pine needles’ Distress Inks. Finally, I could add the flowers – the large poinsettia are in ‘peacock feathers’ and the small ones in ‘salvaged patina’, finishing with a scattering of stars in ‘uncharted mariner’.

It was then a simple matter of adding a mount of Indian summer companion paper and attaching the whole piece to a 7×7 card blank.

I’m getting a bit addicted to building these wreaths – it’s such fun. It’ll be even easier in future as well with the brilliant new stamp pens that Clarity have released today, especially designed for these little stamps! Happy days!

And finally, today is indeed a day of love, as my new grandson arrived yesterday! I’m off to meet him for the first time!
