Hello friends – here we are at Christmas Eve and just one more sleep to go! Obviously, I ahd to share another seasonal card with you, this time using ClarityCrafts ‘trees and their mantles‘, inspired by the layout at Freshly Made Sketches and the tones at Color Hues. I’ve gone a bit left field with the ‘Christmas trees’ theme at Double D but these wintery trees are on a Christmas card so…?!

I started by cutting a mask from Clarity’s mask material using Barbara’s plate technique – trace the curved outline of a plate or pasta bowl onto paper, lay the mask material onto it and cut it. Having put the curved mask onto a square of stencil card, I blended ‘broken china’, ‘wilted violet’ and ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxides into the sky. Removing the mask, I could then stamp the tree four times across the snowy ground.

I sponged a little ‘tumbled glass’ across a bit of torn paper to ground the trees, then set about my favourite technique for creating a snowing sky. Holding the card flat, I sprinkled WOW’s ultra high embossing powder into the sky then heated it from underneath to set it – you need a steady hand for this, and don’t cough or sneeze as you’ll blow all the powder off the card! Having edged the card with a black Sharpie, I added the sentiment from the ‘Christmas wreaths‘ set and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I’m heading off to our church carol service now, thankful it’s not raining as we hold it in the church garden with fairy lights and a bonfire! Wishing you all a happy Christmas!

With house guests I find I don’t get to my computer that much, so I’m only seeing these wishes today. I sure hope yours was as nice as mine was. Hugs.
