hexagonal thanks

Hello crafty friends. Bit of a late post today – I’ve been out to supper with some of my oldest friends! Fortunately, this one is pretty simple to work through, just using one of the nested hexagon dies from ClarityCrafts and a few sheets of the Hibiscus infusions collage paper. You’ll notice that I’ve stepped away from the Christmas cards today and made a start on what I hope will need to be a large pile of thank you cards in appreciation of all the presents I’m looking forward to arriving on the big day (although probably not in reality!)

I cut a pile of hexagon pieces from the infusions paper (this didn’t take as long as you might think – as the collage paper is thin, I could cut through 4 pieces of the paper at the same time). I mixed them all up and then glued them on to a 7×7 piece of copy paper, leaving a narrow gap between each one – I did try using card as the backing the first time I did this and wound up with a very stiff piece, copy paper works much better. Once done, I trimmed the edges straight and then cut it into four squares.

It was then a simple matter to mount each piece on a layer of thin white card and attach them to black 5×5 card blanks. I next stamped out one of the ‘occasions – thank you‘ sentiments onto scrap white card, mounted them on a piece of black and glued them onto the card fronts.

This is a great design for batch making cards – thanks to Barbara Gray for the original inspiration!
