star window die

Hello everyone. I did say yesterday that I wasn’t quite done with Christmas cards yet, so here’s one I made a while ago using the star window die from ClarityCrafts with their brick wall stencil. I do love the rich effect you get from gilding flakes – perfect for Christmas cards. The stencilled surround picks up the themes from Inkspirational and Stencil Fun (who have an optional twist of Christmas).

I started by cutting the die into the centre of a piece of stencil card, then laid the ‘brick wall’ stencil over it and lightly brushed ‘hickory smoke’ Distress Oxide in from either side, so as not to stencil over the die cut.

I cut a piece of Clarity’s double sided adhesive sheet slightly smaller than the card and stuck it to the back (leaving the other side still covered by the backing sheet).  I took the cover piece that I’d already removed from the adhesive and cut the die into it, which meant I could piece it in to cover the central star. I could then rub metallic gilding flakes into the exposed area (they stick beautifully to the adhesive). I then removed the pieces from the star and rubbed Perga glitter into it, so it sparkles. I wanted to add a mount of copper card, but first had to pop a little piece of white onto the back of the adhesive to cover the star as the glitter is translucent.

I then simply attached it to a black 6×6 card blank.

Can you believe it’s now only just over a week to go to the big day? So much to do!!
