Jayne’s church

Hello friends. I expect I’ll soon stop making Christmas cards to share, but not just yet, so here’s another one to tempt you! I went with ‘Jayne’s bijou winter scene’ stamp set, picking up the sketch from Just Add Ink (which I rotated), the colour challenge from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (I went back to February’s white & blue) and the Christmas theme from Cardz4Guys.

I took a 5×5 card blank and masked off a border around the edge with low tack tape (apart half the tape width). I stamped the winter scene, then covered it with the pre-cut mask so that I could blend ‘broken china’ & ‘blueprint sketch’ Distress Oxides into the sky, dragging a little black into the top to just darken it a bit further.

After removing the tape, I added light blue shading to the scene using ‘tumbled glass’ Distress Oxide and a water brush.

I added stars in the sky using a fine white Posca pen. Now the sharp-eyed amongst you will have noticed that I had got a smidge at the top of the church spire! My original plan had been to add a Pinky Gray word sticker into the scene to reflect JAI’s sketch, but I decided to take a bit of a liberty instead and used it to cover over the smudge!

I do like a one-layer card – it’s such a pretty scene it doesn’t need much else with it.
