Hello everyone! It’s time for our last challenge of the year at As You See It and Jane has given us this fab sketch to work with. As soon as I saw it, I thought of the fab bijou backdrop stamps from ClarityCrafts, which I’ve teamed up with the ‘nativity miniatures’ set, adding in the palette from Color Dare. The Christmas theme works perfectly for Peace on Earth, together with the Christmas carol theme from Sparkles Christmas. That feels like a lot on a relatvely small card!

So, I started with the square from the backdrop stamp set and brayered ‘uncharted mariner’ and ‘carved pumpkin’ Distress Oxides onto it, which gave me a lovely green tone in the centre where they blended together. I could then add the nativity scene and star into the frame. My original plan was to do the card on one layer, but I thought it looked a bit flat, so I trimmed the image down, edged it with a black Sharpie and attached it to another piece of stencil card. I then added a mount of Antarctica companion paper and attached everything to a 6×6 card blank.

I still had the ink on my brayer, so ran it across the smaller backdrop stamp and added that to a scrap piece of card, stamping the sentiment from ‘Jayne’s bijou postcard framer’ set in black onto it.

I trimmed the sentiment piece down and again edged it with a black Sharpie. I popped a strip of the Antarctica paper behind it, cutting the ends into banners – I wish now I’d pue another strip of white behind that so it was easier to see the banner neds, but hey ho – too late now!

Lots of potential in this sketch for you to play with! And we’ll be back at AYSI with a new challenge on 10th January 2025!

I have a small metal stencil similar to this stamp. I must get it out. A beautiful take on the sketch.
