Xmas flowers for Sparkles Challenge

Hello again! I’ve managed to tear myself away from the ‘treescape’ stamps & masks and returned to the ‘season’s greetings flowers’ set that ClarityCrafts released earlier this week, thanks to our new theme of ‘Xmas flowers’ at Sparkles Challenges. I thought this week’s palette at Creative Colour was ideal for Christmas flowers, together with a minimalist take on the layout at Atlantic Hearts and the ‘blooms’ theme from Triple B.

I stamped one of the larger hellobores (Christmas rose) onto a square of stencil card using ‘watering can’ Archival ink, covered it with the pre-cut mask that comes with the set, and stamped the second flower. I masked that one as well, used low tack tape to mask off a border around the edges and brushed ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide into the background.

I shaded the centres of the flowers with a light blue Pergaliner pencil, then coloured the leaf with a light grey Polychromo pencil, using it to also soften the white areas on the flowers. I added an inner frame on the topper with a square embedder, embossing it with a Groovi ball tool.

I added a mount of grey card and attached it to a 6×6 card blank. The final touch was to highlight the liens on the flowers with a Quickie glue pen so that I could give them a Christmas sparkle with Pergaglitter, finishing with a couple of the KISS word stickers.

These really are beautiful flowers drawn by my Clarity design team-mate Tina Morris – I think you’ll be seeing a lot more of them in future.

  2. Absolutely Stunning – Love everything about this – the non traditional colours for Christmas, how softly you have used the colours and the ‘negative colouring’ all work so well to create a very pretty card. Thanks so much for joining in with Creative Colour Challenges
