highland thoughts

Hello there. As you can see, I’m still playing with the new landscape masks from ClarityCrafts, this time with the ‘highland treescape‘ stamp set. I had this card on show at the Open Days last weekend (which seem like a very long time ago already!) and demonstrated it a couple of times. I’m going to share it with Addicted to Stamps & More for their ‘make your mark’ theme.

I started by running low tack tape around the edges of a piece of stencil card and then laid all the mask pieces onto it. Working from the bottom up, I took one piece off at a time and sponged ‘kitsch flamingo’ Distress Oxide down from the top, brushing a little ‘hickory smoke’ across it as well. Once I’d done all the ground area, I left those masks in place and removed the sky area so I could brush a little of the ‘kitsch flamingo’ across Clarity’s clouds mask. With the sky recovered, I lifted the moon mask, brushed more of the ‘kitsch flamingo’ into it and brightened the outer part with ‘picked raspberry’ and a sponge.

I put the ground masks back in place and stamped the top of one of the trees from the set across them with ‘shadow grey’ Archival, to give the effect of bushes. I added the deer, sentiment and birds in ‘watering can’ Archival and then used a square embedder to emboss a frame onto the topper. A quick mount of grey card and it sat nicely on a 6×6 card blank.

I’m still not totally sure about this one – I think there’s too much pink in the landscape area and it would have been better with just grey, leaving the pink in the sun. We are our own worst critics, aren’t we?

  1. Love the colors you chose for this card! I never would have thought of using pink. Thanks for sharing it with our Mark You Mark Challenge on the Addicted to Stamps & More Blog. Cathy ATS&M DT
