you brighten my world

Hello friends. I’m back with a second card today, taking another look at the new ‘woodland treescape overlay‘ stencils from ClarityCrafts. I decided this time to put all the colour in the background just using one of the stencils from the set, picking up the colours from Color Dare and several of the prompts (bright colours, square card, stencil, & kindness) from Festive Friday‘s list. I’m also going to pop it in the gallery at Colorful Options for their regular rainbow theme.

The first step was to attach the stencil to a square of card (mine was 11x11cm) – I ran low tack tape across the lower edge and put a doubked over piece under the tree to hold it steady. Out came my pot of stencil brushes and, starting from the bottom, I brushed ‘chipped sapphire’, ‘mermaid lagoon’, ‘candied apple’ and ‘carved pumpkin’ Distress Oxides across the card, blending each colour into the next.

It will be no revelation to you to see that I then ran a black Sharpie around the card edges, embossed a frame with an embedder on the front of a 6×6 card blank and attached the topper (am I getting predictable…?!) One of the Pinky Gray greetings stickers was the perfect final touch.

These stencils are just so versatile! I’ve got another offering to share in a couple of days that goes much more full on!
