a walk on the South Downs

Hello crafty friends. I’ve got a sneaky peek for you today of some fabulous new stamps & masks sets that ClarityCrafts are releasing tomorrow (Sunday 3rd Nov) – and you can catch Barbara Gray putting them through their paces live on Clarity’s YouTube channel between 3pm & 5pm (or catch up afterwards if you’re not free). I’ll have a picture of the sets to share tomorrow once they’re available, but they’re 4×4 inch scenes of resuable masks with an associated set of stamps. This first card uses the ‘South Downs Treescape’ set – and I love it! I’ve loosely CASE’d (Copy and Selectively Edit) Stephanie’s card from this week’s Just Us Girls challenge, picking up the smooshed background with images on top and the white border around it.

Now you all know I’ve got a large stash of backgrounds from mopping up ink on my craft mat, so I’m very proud to have put another one to use! This one is on a piece of Clarity’s small stencil card – I laid the masks over it, then removed the bottom three one at a time to sponge ‘mowed lawn’ Distress Oxide across them, giving me the ground for my landscape. I lifeted the sky mask off, leaving the circle for the moon, and swept ‘broken china’ across it with another sponge.

Next was to stamp the two trees and the couple in place, using black Versafine Clair ink – my inkpad must be jus=cier than I thought as I got some blistering on the images, but I decided I quite liked the effect. I added the little flock of birds, then took the small leafy stamp from the set and filled in the branches on the trees.

I ran a black Sharpie around the edges of the topper, then added a narrow white mount and a layer of Waimea Falls companion paper. I embossed a nested square embedder (it was a better size than the standard ones) onto the front of a 6×6 card blank and glued the topper into place.

I’m so looking forward to seeing what my Clarity DT mates have done with these sets, and I’ve got more to share with you over the coming days. Don’t miss Barbara’s shows tomorrow (3-5pm on YouTube). I know she’ll be busy prepping today, but hopefully she’s had a bit of a break – in fact I think this little scene looks just like Barb and Dave heading out for a wallk!

  1. This is a fabulous make, Deborah. I love the elements you took from my card to make this beauty. That is the beauty of CASEing. Your card is so reminiscent of a walk in the autumn air. Thanks so much for playing with us at Just Us Girls!

  2. Such a lovely take on Stephanie’s card; you’ve certainly drawn inspiration from the elements you’ve chosen and made them your own. I’m ready to go for a walk in that pretty, inviting scene. Thank you so much for joining us at Just Us Girls.
