Hello friends. Today’s post has a card using the ‘birch trees’ stamp set which, together with it’s partner ‘bamboo’ set is currently on offer from ClarityCrafts at a two-for-one price. I’ve taken the sketch from The Paper Players, rotating it for my card, together with the palette from Creative Colour Challenges.

The first step was to stamp the outline trees onto a square of Clarity’s stencil card. I then cut masks for them from mask material, laid the upper part of the hills mask over them and lightly brushed ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide across it into the abckground. Without reinking my stencil brush, I swept it around the edges of the card to soften the white background. I then switched the hills mask for it’s counterpart to cover the inked area, added the outer part of a moon mask and blended a little ‘picked raspberry’ to give me a setting sun behind the hills.

I decided not to use the infill stamp for the trees, instead shading them with grey Polychromo pencil. I embossed a frame onto the front of a 6×6 card blank with a square embedder, added a mount of Rainbow River companion paper and finished with a word sticker.

I really like the soft tones in the background for this one – it’s heading off to a friend who’s having a bit of a difficult time at the moment.

A perfect sentiment for someone who needs a lift. Those trees make for a lovely image and how you added colour was excellent.
