build a leafy bauble

Hello there. Today I’m sharing one of the cards I demo’d on last Friday’s ClarityCrafts shows over on YouTube, using their ‘build a bauble’ and ‘sentiment rounds’ stamp sets. Keep reading to the end, though, for an alternative take on this too.

I took one of Clarity’s small squares of stencil card, inked the background stamp with ‘tumbled glass’ Distress Oxide (applying with a Spot-On sponge and spritzing with water) and stamped it into the centre of the card. I then inked the leafy topper from the set with ‘peacock feathers’ Distress Oxide and planted it in the centre of the background circle.

Next was to add the sentiment rounds. These come as a semi-circular stamp, which gives lots of options on how to use them. I opted to form a circle around my image, so lined it up to start with and stamped the first one. You’ll see that there is a dot at each end of the sentiment, which I could use to line up the second part of the circle, overlaying the dots. Once I’d done that, I stamped the little bauble topper into place.

I then turned to my background, taking a 5×5 card blank and repeat stamping the leafy bauble topper around the egde, again with the ‘peacock feathers’. The trick with this was to stamp around three sides, starting from a corner, then stamp the centre one on the last side and finish with the final corner, which means you can avoid overlapping any of the images.

I drew the string for the bauble in with a micron pen, ran a black Sharpie around the edges of the topper and then simply attached it to the card front.

When is a bauble not a bauble? Well I went slightly left field on Friday’s show and changed this to be a birthday card! It’s exactly the same design, but I changed the colour to ‘wilted violet’ (you could use any you fancy), used the birthday option from the ‘sentiment rounds’ set and omitted the bauble topper and string.

So many options with this one as there are two other sentiments in the pack – I love getting good value for money!
