O for ocean animals at Alphabet Challenge

It’s Friday and time for our new theme at Alphabet Challenge – we’ve reached O and want to see your Ocean Animals! Lots of scope with this one, so I grabbed ‘Sam’s Bobbing Around’ set from ClarityCrafts – I really don’t like fish, but the expressions on this little shoal are just fab! I thought the stamp would be a fun twist on the sketch from Sunday Stamps with the colours from Color Dare

First, I needed to create a watery kind of background, so went for an old technique on Clarity’s coated card. I brayered ‘peacock feathers’ & ‘stormy sky’ Distress Oxides onto it, spritzed with water and put a piece of cling film onto it. I could then push the wet ink across the card to create ripples by scrunching the cling film – once dry it gives a lovely effect.

I cut it down to a square, stamped the fish in place with black Archival ink and coloured them with Pergacolour pens. I’m not sure why, but the the teal colour has come out looking very blue in the photos…

Anyway, I then just needed to stamp the sentiment (great pun!) across the card, ran a black Sharpie around the edges and popped it onto a 5×5 card blank, having embossed a frame on it first with a square embedder.

So what ocean animals have you got hiding in your stash? Come and share them with us in our marine gallery at Alphabet!

  1. I love how you created the background for this card. It is a must try technique now on my list. Great fishy card and beautifully coloured.
