sprite poppet – Meg

Hello there! I’m still playing with the new Sprite & Pixie Poppets from ClarityCrafts now that the whole collection has dropped through my letterbox (there are 6 sprites & 6 pixies), so it’s the turn of Meg and her froggy friend to make their appearance today. I’ve combined the colours from Color Throwdown and the layout from Atlantic Hearts for this card, together with the birthday theme from Addicted to Stamps

So, I started by stamping Meg and Mr Froggy onto a square of stencil card. I then got busy cutting masks for them from Clarity’s reusable mask material – the easiest way to do this is to stamp the image onto a bit of copy paper, lay a piece of the mask material over the top (you can see the image through it) and then cut it out. Once the copy paper is removed from the back and you’ve used the mask it will go back onto the original piece of carrier sheet (which you haven’t cut into). Having done that and covered them over (the frog was a wee bit fiddly…!), I brayered ‘squeezed lemonade’ and ‘festive berries’ Distress Oxides onto the small heart backdrop stamp and stamped it over them.

You won’t be surprised to learn that I coloured them in with Pergaliner B pencils, smoothing the colour out with Dorso oil and a blending nib. I used a blue metallic gel pen to colour Meg’s star on her wand.

I added one of the ‘bijou retro sentiments’, followed by a mount of Waimea Falls companion paper. Obviously, (after telling you yesterday that they are my favourite craft item!) I then used a square embedder on the front of a 6×6 card blank to emboss a frame, before attaching the topper to sit within it.

Now, I know that frogs aren’t blue, but this little chap’s a fairytale creature (after all, he’s got wings), so I figured the usual rules don’t apply! Or maybe Meg has just changed him with a tap of her blue starry wand – what do you think?
