Hello crafty friends. You’ll know that we Brits are always focused on what the weather’s doing and we’ve had quite a bit of wind with rain showers this week! So I thought it was time to play with my new ‘blustery day’ stamp set from ClarityCrafts – a previous set from way back that they’ve recently brought back! I kept it simple with the colours from The Paper Players and the layout from Sketch Saturday on a very CAS one-layer card.

I’d been puzzling over how to create the background on my card, then had a flash of inspiration over a rectangle embedder with rounded corners! I took a 5×5 card blank, orientating it with the fold at the top, and partially embossed the embedder on the front to give me the two areas of Sketch Saturday’s layout – I did it on two stages, taking care to line the second one up with the first across the centre of the card. I then stamped the sentiment from the ‘quotes’ set in the right hand section and the little girl scene and plants to the left, overlapping those to reflect the sketch.

I used aqua (watercolour) Pergaliners and a waterbrush to loosely colour the image, scribbling the pencil onto a mix mat and then picking up the pigment with my waterbrush.

And that’s it! This little scene does better reflect the weather today – we’ve got blue skies with clouds scudding across, although it’s still pretty chilly! Summer seems a long time ago…

I just love how you did the embossing on your background (not sure I could accomplish that one) and your sweet little image is just precious! Love that you used lighter shades of our color palette, it’s all very pleasing! Always happy to have you play with us at the Players!

Deborah… I love how you debossed the two background panels. So unique. Actually looks like the pages of a book. Great card. Thank you for sharing your creativity with The Paper Players.

I love the subtlety of your card, Deborah. I like the soft way you’ve matched the sketch with the embedded rounded corners (and what a great tool that is!) as well as the way watercolouring has tamed those strong colours. Thanks for sharing at The Paper Players.

Oh, I just love this! We have lots of wind up here on our hill all the time so this looks very familiar, lol! We live off-grid and mainly use solar power but we also a small wind turbine that generates power for us on a daily basis, so wind is a good thing!
