birthday tree

Hello everyone! I’m still playing with the new ‘panoramic’ three-way overlay stamps from ClarityCrafts, this time making a card for a friend over in New Zealand. I know it’s spring over there now, but I thought the colours from Just Us Girls were beautiful, even though they look a little autumnal (it’s the thought that counts, after all!).

I used one of Clarity’s small squares of stencil card and first stamped the outline of the second image in the pack with clear ink, heat embossing it with WOW’s superfine gold powder. I added the infill stamp using a shade of rust, which was a bit of a challenge as I don’t have any ink pads that fit the bill for that colour! Instead, I blended ‘ripe persimmon’ and ‘walnut stain’ Distress Oxides on the stamp using a couple of spot-on sponges – I’m very happy with the result! Finally, I popped a mini moon mask over the tree branches then sponged ‘salty ocean’ over the top of the background stamp for the sky. I added the colour to the ground by going back onto the stamp with the same sponges I used on the infill, but without adding more ink so it gave me a softer effect on the ground.

I added a couple of the sentiments from the ‘bijou retro’ set, followed by a mount of gold card, then attached the whole piece to a 5×5 card blank.

I’m really happy with the look of heat embossing the outline for this one – definitely going to be using that again!

  1. You created a lovely rust for your tree, Deborah, and all that gold gives such an elegant look to your card. Thanks for sharing it with us at Just Us Girls.
