Hello there – can’t believe it’s Friday already, how did that happen? The good news, though, is that means there’s a new theme at Alphabet Challenge – L for Landscape. That gave me another good reason to use the new ‘wild frame’ stamp set from ClarityCrafts, this time taking the grove of trees. I’ve taken a loose interpretation of the layout at Freshly Made Sketches together with the ‘make your mark’ (using inks, pencils, pens, etc) theme at Addicted to Stamps.

My starting point for this one was Clarity’s small circle backdrop stamp. I took a 4 inch square of stencil card and ran masking tape across the bottom, as I didn’t want the circle to show below the trees. I then sponged ‘dried marigold’, ‘saltwater taffy’ and ‘picked raspberry’ Distress Oxides onto the stamp, lightly spritzed it with water and stamped it onto the card. After lifting the tape, I simply stamped the trees across the bottom of the circle, using black Archival ink.

Having spent a little while working through my companion papers to find a co-ordinating mount (and failing!) I got my head together and made my own! I cut a slightly larger piece of stencil card, then brushed the three inks in from the edge, working all the way round & keeping the colour order to match the circle stamp. I edged the topper with a black Sharpie, added the mount and attached it to a 6×6 card blank that I’d already used an embedder on to emboss a frame. The finishing touch was one of the Pink Gray greetings stickers.

This would make a fab Christmas card if you changed the colours (my Clarity design teamie Jane has already spotted that potential!), but I just love the tones in this one. The Alphabet Challenge runs for two weeks until Thursday 19 September and we can’t wait to see your landscapes in our gallery!
