CAS Colours & sketches 544 – colours

Hello there and welcome to our new challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. I’ve handed the reins over to Nancy who’s hosting this month and she’s given us a great palette of colours to start September. They were just perfect for another little scene using ClarityCrafts‘ new ‘panoramic’ overlay stamps, this time with image 3 from the set.

This time I used all three of the overlay stamps, starting with the outline on a small square of stencil card. I used the smallest nested square embedder for a frame around the image, then sponged ‘peeled paint’ Distress Oxide onto the infill stamp, using a damp paper towel to wipe it off the mountains before stamping as I wanted to keep them white. I added some more ‘peeled paint’ onto the bottom of the infill and stamped it a second time, to darken the image.

I popped a mini moon mask over the trees, then started to add the background, first with a light layer of ‘peeled paint’ at the bottom, then ‘dusty concord’ for the mountains and finally ‘stormy sky’ at the top.

Taking a 6×6 card blank, I embossed another frame on the card front with a square embedder, then mounted the topper on a layer of Amazonia companion paper at glued it into place. The final touch was to stamp the sentiment from the ‘Christmas & Celebration’ word sticker stamp set using ‘fern green’ Archival ink (I really should use these stamps more!)

This really reminded me of the line from the hymn ‘All things bright and beautiful’ which refers to ‘the purple headed mountains’. How will you put the CAS C&S colours to use – come and share your creations in our gallery.
