Hello there. This is the last of this run of Christmas cards for a little while, with the ‘snowflakes’ set from ClarityCrafts‘ ‘Tina’s Christmas Elements’ collection. This one was inspired by another of my Clarity design team buddies, Julie Dunn, who’s just brilliant at pattern building with stamps.

I started with the snowflake tile stamp and popped it onto a one of Clarity’s small square stencil cards on the diagonal, using black Archival ink, then repeat stamped it around the sides to fill in the card.

I used the corner of the stamp to fill into the remaining gaps, then added colour to the pattern. I went with a green Pergaliner pencil (B6) for the holly leaves, then used a pink pencil (A9) to put an undercoat on the swirls before going over them with a pink Pergacolour pen – that stops the pen ‘bleeding’ on the stencil card. I used the same pen to dot the berries & snowflakes, before adding a layer of pink Waimea Falls companion paper

I decided to add a second layer of green Waimea Falls paper, then attached the topper to a 5×5 card blank that I’d embossed a frame onto using a square embedder. I stamped the sentiment onto scrap card in ‘library green’ Archival, cut the ends into a banner and added it to the card front, putting a bit of scrap card on the back to lift it slightly.

I do like non-traditional colours for Christmas cards, and this is another pattern that would work for other occasions too – it would make a great winter birthday card.

Thanks! I’d never normally use a stamp in this way, but now need to try more pattern building!
