SNOW-man

Hello there! Well I had two great shows today on Create and Craft (if you missed them, you can watch on catch-up via the website) showcasing the new ‘Christmas Elements’ collection designed by Tina Cox for ClarityCrafts. I thought I’d share one of my demos with you as well, before I wend my way home. This is the ‘Christmas snowman’ set (love this little chap!) and my card was inspired by Tina Morris, one of my Clarity design team buddies – it picks up the shading/shadows theme from Just Add Ink and 52 Christmas Card Throwdown‘s ‘snow people’.

I started with a small square of stencil card and stamped the larger of the two snowmen with black Archival ink. I took a torn piece of copy paper and brushed ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide across the edge to give him some ground to stand on, repositioning it to add a couple of drifts further down as well. Next was to add the snowflakes in the sky, again with the ‘broken china’ (these ones are from the ‘Christmas Snowflakes’ set, but you could easily use the ones in this set). I thne highlighted my snowman with a blue Pergaliner pencil, shading him around the edges to give a little dimension and blending it out with a Pergamano nib.

I cut the letters using Clarity’s A5 woodblock print alphabet dies and some scrap white card, then lightly brushed the ‘broken china’ across the top and bottom of the letters (I just used what was already on my brush, not adding any more ink). I also brushed the ink around the card edges, then glued the letters in place. All it needed to finish was a mount of Antarctica companion paper and a 5×5 card blank.

I thought it was such a clever idea to use the snowman for the first letter – and these are such cute images!
