Hello there. I’m back with another take on the ‘playful sprite’ printed image from ClarityCrafts‘ Poppets collection – I do love this little pair! I’ve pulled in a couple more challenegs on this one, taking the colours from The Paper Players (with brown as my neutral) and Seize the Birthday‘s ‘cute critters’ theme.
So I trimmed another of the sprite outline images from the printed sheet and set about colouring them with Pergaliner pencils, using the Paper Players’ shades. I used the pink tone on her face and blended it with the yellow for her dress, but somehow it looks more orange in the photo! I added a touch of green in the background using a little ‘bundled sage’ and a stencil brush.
I die cut the topper using a nested circle ‘foliage’ frame-it panel die, then cut a second layer from a piece of Shenandoah companion paper, using the next size die, to mount it on.
I used a circle embedder to create a frame on the front of a 6×6 card blank. I was then just going to attach the topper in the centre, but felt the yellow border looked a bit insipid and didn’t really stand out enough. I pulled out my nested circle dies, cut a piece of card in black the same size as my topper and added that behind the yellow piece – the black through the die cut just finished it off perfectly. The final touch was a word sticker that I’d edged with a black Sharpie.
All we need to figure out now is which of this pair is celebrating their birthday!
