beach vibes

Hello friends! It’s just been declared the hottest day of the year so far in the UK, which makes the beach seem really tempting! I’m about to get into the car instead and head off to Kent for the next two days for ClarityCrafts annual summer crafting retreat, but I’ll most definitely have my shades on! I picked up the colours in the right hand column of http://www.Color Dare‘s grid, together with the beach & holiday themes from Addicted to CAS and AAA Cards for another take on Clarity’s ‘summer shades’ stamp set.

I started by masking a border on a 5×7 card blank with low tack tape, then sponged ‘salvaged patina’ and ‘dried marigold’ Distress Oxides onto the second smallest stamp from the ‘by the seaside’ set, repeat stamping it across the card front to fill the space.

I stamped the sunglasses with ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide, then heat embossed them with clear powder – they look like a very trendy shiny blue frame!

I scattered a few plants around the glasses (it made me think of those lovely English sand dunes), and finished with the sentiment from the ‘woodland ivy’ silhouette stamp set, all with the ‘chipped sapphire.

Our recent Canadian trip wasn’t really a beach holiday, but we did get to spend a fabulous day out on the Toronto Islands in Lake Ontario – Ward’s Island beach was just beautiful.
