and breathe…

It’s the weekend and time to relax a little, so here’s a card encouraging you to do just that thanks to ClarityCrafts‘ ‘dippy toe lady A4 sampler’ set. I took the layout from Freshly Made Sketches (rotating it) and the tones from Color Hues, which both worked perfectly with these little square stamps.

I worked on a 5×7 card blank and started by running a piece of low tack tape across the card front to give me a guideline so I got the three images level with each other, adding a pencil dot on the tape to mark the centre for the first stamp. I stamped all three images in ‘potting soil’ Archival ink, then sponged ‘saltwater taffy’ and ‘picked raspberry’ Distress Oxides onto the solid stamp, spritzed it lightly with water and filled in each image.

I wanted to put an embedder frame around the images, but they weren’t the correct size, so here’s my hack! I took a rectangle embedder that was the right width and lined it up for the top border, attaching it to the card front with folded over low tack tape. I turned to the inside of the card front and ran my embossing tool along the top edge and just round each corner. I then moved the embedder uo to sit at the right point for the lower edge, sitting it within the partial lines I’d already done down each side. Back to the inside of the card and I finished embossing the remainder of the frame.

Here’s the finished product – I’m so happy with the ombre backgrounds in these images!

I’ve been out for a walk in a local park this afternoon with some of the family – no pink there, but lots of green!
