fly away boy

Hello friends. I’m back again with a sneaky peek at some new products that ClarityCrafts are launching tomorrow (Sunday) – these fab 8×8 stripe stencils (there’s a set of plaid ones as well). I’ve kept it simple with this one (my favourite approach!), just using the stencil in the background of a masked panel, inspired by the sketch at AAA Cards and Simply Clean & Simple‘s ‘off centre’ twist.

First was to mask a panel on stencil card with low tack tape. I took the thick stripe stencil, laid it on the panel and brushed ‘lucky clover’, ‘salvaged patina’ & ‘saltwater taffy’ Distress Oxides across from the right. After removing the stencil, I brushed more of the inks across to add colour into the spaces between the stripes.

I kept the low tack tape in place and added the top of the leaves from the ‘fly away boy’ set then lifted the tape off and added the boy and his birds, using black Versafine Clair ink. Finally, I samped the sentiment from the ‘Just wings & wheels’ set, then attached the topper to a 6×6 card blank.

I’m loving all the action from the Olympics at the moment (I don’t think flying with birds is included in the programme…), but I’ll be tuned into Create and Craft TV at 3pm tomorrow to watch Barbara put these (and other goodies) through their paces!
