Hello there. It’s a beautiful sunny Sunday here and I’ve been catching a bit of the Olympics coverage, but this card is in homage to another major news item from this week – the devastating wildfire in Jasper, Alberta, in the Canadian Rockies. We were there only last month, and it’s dreadful to think that so much of the beautiful place we saw no longer exists. I went with ClarityCrafts ‘pine trees by the riverside’ mask, picking up the layout from Freshly Made Sketches and the woodland theme from Inkspirational.

I found a lovely piece of the Waimea Falls designer paper and sponged ‘watering can’ Archival ink through the mask to create my treeline.

I swapped the mask for the other part, to cover up the tree images. then added a moon mask and sponged a little ‘squeezed lemonade’ Distress Oxide to create the sun behind the trees.

I stamped a small deer from the ‘woodland miniatures’ set in black Archival ink and used a torn piece of scrap paper to sponge ink beneath her for the ground. I stamped one of the ‘entwined sentiments’ into the sky, added a mount of grey card and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

Hard to believe we were amongst the last people to see Japser and the national park in it’s pristine state. The residents who’ve lost their homes and livelihoods are in my prayers.
