butterfly layout

Hello friends. Barbara’s busy on TV today launching the next in ClarityCrafts abstract layout dies and partner stamps series, so I’ve taken a lookback to the die and ‘Just butterflies & bees’ stamps from April. I’ve pulled a couple of challenges together for this one, with the palette from Creative Colour and the butterflies & blooms for TripleB

I started with the abstract layout die, cutting it into a square of navy card and attaching it to the front of a 6×6 card blank. I’d remembered to put thin double-sided adhesive sheet on the back before cutting it, so it was easy to stick down. I stamped the sentiment, floral spray and butterfly into the central aperture, then added the floral swag into each of the corners – I used black Archival for then all other thank the sentiment, but now wish I’d used a green for the corner stamps. Hey ho!

I ran low tack tape around the edges of the central aperture, then lightly brushed ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide across the clouds mask for the sky, with a little green at the bottom. I coloured the rest of the image with Pergaliner pencils – yellow for the flowers, green for the leaves and a blend of navy and yellow on the butterfly.

These aperture dies are great, and you don’t have to fill every section to get a great design (which makes this CAS addict very happy!)
