mistletoe kisses

Hello friends! I thought I’d share one of the cards from my first show yesterday, that got a bit rushed towards the end – this way, we can go through it at a steady pace. It uses the same set as Friday’s card, ClarityCrafts’ ‘festive topiary’, but this time I’ve stepped it up a bit and am going to share it with TGIF Challenges and Peace on Earth.

I started with a piece of the Antarctica designer paper and stamped the base and mistletoe ball onto it. I added the bow onto the stem and by the base, the repeat stamped the mistletoe sprig to look like it was lying across the ground (forgot to take a pic at this point!) I then got to work with my Pergaliner pencils, shading all the images. If you look closely, you can see that I added peach coloured pencil in the background of the mistletoe ball (between the leaves) so it didn’t look quite so flat – amazing how a little touch like that can just lift an image!

I stamped the sentiment from the set, then added a narrow mount of white copy paper, and a layer of Shenandoah companion paper and attached the whole piece to a 7×7 card blank. The final touch was to highlight all the mistletoe berries with a white gel pen.

One of the things I was talking on TV yesterday was how you can add coloured papers or additional elements from the stamp sets to step up your cards, moving from CAS to much fuller designs giving you lots of options. Here’s the three cards I’ve made with this set to show you just what I mean…
