Hello crafty friends. I’ve seen a few cards in this style on social media and have been meaning to try it out for a while – the relaunch of ClarityCrafts companion papers gave me the perfect reason! I used papers from the Waimea Falls collection, taking three of the colours from Sunday Stamps‘ palette – most of the cards I’ve seen done in this style use die cut letters with the paper squares, but I thought Clarity’s ‘penguin letterbox ABC’ stamps would work just as well (and they’re currently on offer as the Alphabet of the Month!)

So, the first step was to cut nine 3cm x 3cm squares from the companion papers (a great way to use some of those smaller offcuts). I laid them out in the order I wanted them and stamped the single letterbox (from the original alphabet set) onto eight of them with black Archival ink.

I used the ‘penguin ABC’ stamps to spell out ‘birthday’ on the eight squares and then glued them onto a piece of stencil card. I used the Pergamano ruler to line them up, having cut the card at 13cm square, so it gave me a 1cm border around the edges plus 1cm between each square. I added a word sticker onto the first square (I didn’t have a ‘happy’ sentiment stamp small enough!)

I then simply added a mount from the Waimea Falls collection and attached the whole piece to a 6×6 card blank.

I really like the graphic style of this and it would work for male, female and kids cards, depending on the colours you chose. So many possibilities!

Love it, Deborah. The small new Clarity alphabet dies might work well with this, too
