CAS Colours & Sketches 541 – penguin sketch

Hello everyone! July is rolling along very fast – we’re halfway through already and back with a new sketch challenge from CAS Colours & Sketches. I’ve taken the opportunity to bag another Christmas card, not least because ClarityCrafts have got their fab little penguin letterboxes collection as the current Alphabet of the Month offer.

I stamped three of the penguin letterboxes (actually it’s four as little Percy’s holding two!) onto scrap white card with black Archival ink. I coloured Percy’s hat & scarf with Polychromo and Pergaliner pencils, then added the mini sentiments and highlighted them with a Pergalcolour pen before diecutting all three. I cut a frame from Rainbow River companion paper using the ‘chevron’ frame-it nested panel dies, attached it to a piece of stencil card and layered the penguins on top (I put a little scrap card behind each one to lift them slightly).

The pink lettering was a bit too bright, so I muted it down with a grey Poloychromo pencil, then added a few stars (from Linda’s ‘wish upon a star’ set) in ‘bundled sage’ and attached the whole piece to a 6×6 card blank.

So come on over and join us at CAS Colours & Sketches – this is a great sketch and there’s lots more inspiration from the rest of the design team over on the blog. Meanwhile, I’m heading over to share this one with Color Dare (I used the two greens and the pink from their palette) and Peace on Earth.

  1. Adorable stamp set, love the frame you used for your penquins with their sentiments… and love your interpretation of the sketch challenge and how you incorporated our colors into your project. Thanks for sharing your adorable card with us at Color Dare.
