happy 4th July

Hello crafty friends. I’ve gone all American a day early today, with a card for one of my US friends who lives over here. This is another quick and easy card, just using a ClarityCrafts stencil, brushes and inks and I’ve used several challenges to inspire the final design! Festive Friday are celebrating 4th July – I took, red, white, blue, rhinestones, flags & celebratory sentiment from their inspo list! The top line of The Paper Players TicTacToe board also helped, with stars & stripes, bling and blue, plus Colorful Options have flags for their theme this month and I picked up the heart and colours from AAA Colourful. Phew!

Now, I started by attaching the stencil to a piece of 7×7 stenail card with low tack tape, and then ran it through my embossing machine which impressed the design into the card – it just gives the finished look a little more dimension. I left the stencil in place and used stencil brushes to add ‘chipped sapphire’ and ‘festive berries’ Distress Oxides across it, sweeping the blue in from the right and the red from the left.

I trimmed the stencilled card down, added a dark blue mount and attached it to a 7×7 card blank. The sentiment uses ‘Barb’s months & numbers’ stamp set – perfect for what I needed it to say! the final touch was to add a few sparkly Glossies on the central heart.

So – have you spotted my mistake? I’ve got the colours the wrong way round!! The stars should be blue and the stripes red – I’m hoping my friend will forgive me in the name of art!
