weddings at As You See It challenge

Hello crafty friends and welcome to our new challenge at As You See It. Summer is heading our way and Jane has appropriately given us ‘weddings’ as the theme this time round. I made this card combining a couple of Clarity Crafts that, at first glance, don’t look like they should work together – ‘Tina’s bijou retro stamps’ and the ‘SHAC flower framer’ set! My Clarity team-mate Debbie McMullin made a card similar to this when the larger retro stamps were originally released and I decided to make a version of it, which picks up on the layout from Atlantic Hearts.

I started with half a 5×5 card blank and stamped the small floral spray onto it with black Archival ink. I covered it over with a couple of small pieces of masking tape, then stamped the small scroll over the tape to flow out each side of the flowers. I then took the triple leaf shape and stamped it to hang from the scroll frame – it looks like hearts when it’s stamped upside down.

The next step was to add some colour! I shaded the flowers with Pergaliner pencils, then took the single solid leaf stamp, inked it with ‘dried marigold’ Distress Oxide and added it into the centre of the triple hearts.

I used one of the nested square picot dies to trim the card down and give it a pretty edge, then added a suitable ‘bijou retro sentiment’, together with a mount of Amazonia companion paper that I’d also cut with one of the picot dies. The whole piece went onto a 6×6 card blank. The beauty of a single colour card like this is you can tailor it to the theme of the wedding.
