birthday candles

Hello there. I’m back with another look at one of my demos from Saturday’s shows, using the trio of candles stamp from Clarity Crafts‘ new ‘Tina’s bijou retro’ stamp set. Obviously, it’s perfect for sharing with AAA Birthday, but also picks up the ‘backgrounds’ theme from TGIF Challenges

My starting point was a small square of stencil card from my inky mop-up stash of backgrounds – regular readers of this little blog will know that I’ve got a large folder of these thanks to mopping up inks from my blending mat. I managed to work out that this one was done with ‘picked raspberry’ & ‘wilted violet’ Distress Oxides (I always forget to write the colours on the back!) I stamped the candles image onto the stencil card, then shaded them with Pergaliner pencils. I took a slightly larger piece of card and brushed both inks onto it around the edges, then ran a black Sharpie around the original piece of card and attached to the mount which I’d rotated so that the colours sat opposite to those on the topper.

I didn’t want to just sit it in the centre of a card blank, so took a strip of the BOW-WOB (black-on-white, white-on-black) collage paper and brushed the ‘wilted violet’ across it, then attached it across the front of a 6×6 card blank. The topper then sat nicely in the centre!

Thanks for dropping in. I’ll be back tomorrow with another of my samples using this great set!
