Hello there! I thought I’d share a card using the single candle from ClarityCrafts new ‘Tina’s bijou retro stamps’ collection that would have been my third demo in the first Create & Craft show had we not run out of time! Those shows just go so fast!! I also have to thank Jane Telford, one of my Clarity team-mates, for the inspiration on this one, and I’m going to share it with Addicted to Stamps for their birthday theme and Colorful Options for their alternative rainbow theme.

I always find it hard to stamp in a straight line, so I now put a strip of masking tape across the card which gives me a guide to follow. I also put a pencil mark in the centre of the tape, so my candles were sat in the middle of the card. I started with the central candle in ‘lucky clover’ Distress Oxide, lining it up with my pencil mark. I could then work outwards in each direction using the colours of the rainbow – working from the left it’s ‘festive berries’, ‘carved pumpkin’, ‘mustard seed’, ‘lucky clover’, ‘blueprint sketch’, ‘villainous potion’ & ‘wilted violet’.

I added two of the sentiments above & below the candles and then used a large square embedder to create a frame around the image. The topper then went onto a mount of green Northern Lights companion paper and a 7×7 card blank.

There’s so much potential with this design – you could make the number of candles fit the age of the recipient (you might need a bigger card if it’s their 90th birthday…!!), or use tonal colours instead of a rainbow. I think it’s a great contemporary look though.

A lovely card, so cheerful and fun. Adding the pencil mark for the centre of the card on you tape line is a great tip and one I shall no doubt use.

I did catch the replay and it’s wonderful to put a face with a name! You did an amazing job on air. I’d be a nervous wreck! 😂

Thank you so much! I was very shaky the first time I did it, but it gets easier as you get familiar with doing it. Still do get nervous though…
