star flower birthday

Hello there! I’ve had another day trying to use up bits of my stash and dug this piece of background out of my folder from last year’s ClarityCrafts retreat – we spent a happy hour walking a brayer with acrylic paint across pieces of paper. I do love the A6 ‘star flower’ stamp set as well – it’s such a lovely design, and does all the work for you on the cards. I’m going to share this offerng with a couple of challenges – AAA cards are celebrating their 10th birthday, and I thought the overall colours and look of my card picked up the moodboard from Hand Stamped Sentiments

As I said, I found the background piece in my folder from last year’s Clarity retreat (along with quite a few more!) so decided it was time to put it to use. I cut it down to fit on a 6×6 card blank, then stamped the star flower spray onto it with black Archival ink. Out came my trusty Pergaliner pencils and I shaded the flowers, picking up the tones from the background and using grey for the leaves. I used the inside of a nested circle embedder and a micron pen to create a circle around the flowers, then added a few more dots with the pen.

I added one of the ‘occasions sentiments’, again in black Archival, used a black Sharpie and a rule to add a black edge and mounted it onto a layer of Rainbow River companion paper. The whole piece then sat nicely in the centre of a 6×6 card blank.

I’m a bit later than planned in sharing this evening, but in my defence I’m busy starting my prep for Saturday’s TV shows – I’ll be on Create & Craft TV at 1pm & 4pm with some more fab new stamps. Pop back tomorrow when I’ll have a sneaky peek for you!

  3. I do love a good splattered background and love how your delicate flowers are coloured to match it. It really is a stunning card and the icing on the cake to me is spotlighting the florals with your circle ?hand-drawn, a touch of genius. Thanks for joining in and helping us celebrate turning 10 at AAA Cards and for all your support in the past too.
