A for Adventure at Alphabet Challenge

Welcome to my crafty blog! I’ve been on a fab trip to Brussels & Bruges with my sister for the past few days – we’ve had a brilliant time but, sadly, that little adventure finishes today and we’ll be on the Eurostar back to London. Appropriately enough, our new theme at Alphabet Challenge is A for Adventure and we’re starting our 14th trip round the alphabet after Caz kicked it off back in 2011!

I was fortunate to spend a couple months last year travelling with friends in Australia & New Zealand, so today’s card is a nod back to our Grand Adventure. I decided to use the plane from ClarityCrafts‘ ‘wings & wheels’ set, sitting it with the ‘winter tree’ stencil and using three of the colours (the two blues and the green) from Color Dare‘s chart.

I started by positioning the stencil on card to fit a 6×6 card blank, stamped the plane into the aperture and masked it off with one I’d made earlier. I popped the upper part of the grass mask from the ‘deerscape’ set underneath the stencil and brushed ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxide across it. I sponged ‘tumbled glass’ between the tree branches, then brushed it across the clouds mask into the aperture. The tree still wasn’t well defined, so I carefully traced around the stencil with a micron pen to outline it.

The tree looked very flat and white, so I shaded it with a combination of grey Polychromo pencils, then used a dark blue Pergaliner pencil for the plane.

I added the sentiment from the ‘famous places’ stamp set, ran a black Sharpie around the card edges and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

So where will your adventures take you? Come and share them with us at Alphabet!
