Seize the Birthday – spring floral

Hello there! Welcome to my crafty blog and a new challenge over at Seize the Birthday – sadly, it’s my last with them as guest designer. I’ve had a blast and I’ll be back playing along from next month. Our ‘topping’ this time (you can opt for ‘anything goes’) is spring florals and I decided that the tulips from ClarityCrafts‘ ‘spring tags & frames’ set were ideal – they also worked perfectly with the yellow & blue shades from Color Dare.

I started by creating an embedded frame on a small square of Clarity stencil card, then stamped the tulips into the centre with black Archival ink. I masked off the outer edge of the stamped frame, adding a bit of tape over the tulips as well, and used the small clouds mask from the ‘build a scene’ set with ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide to create the sky. Removing all the tape, I coloured the frame and the tulips with Pergaliner pencils, using a grey Polychromo for the leaves.

I added in the sentiment from the ‘sunmer tags & frames’ set, with a mount of blue card and attached it to a 5×5 card blank. Nice and easy!

I want to say a huge thanks to Nancy & the Seize the Birthday team for making me so welcome over the last couple of months! I’ll be back in the gallery for future challenges!

  5. This card looks so cute! I love the look of those little tulips and the frame makes a good place for a sentiment or – like what you’ve done – something else. I think the card looks fresh with that blue frame as well. Really lovely.
