Friendship narrowboat scene

Hello there! Today’s card features one of the Country Scenes stamps from ClarityCrafts that I wasn’t able to get to on Saturday’s shows – the ‘friendship narrowboat’ scene. I’m going to share it with The Paper Players for their friends theme, as that’s the name of this lovely boat!

I started with one of the small squares of stencil card and stamped the narrowboat scene onto it with black Archival ink, then coloured the image and leaves, etc with Pergaliner B pencils. I then turned to the A (aqua) pencils in the set for the background – scribbling the pencil onto a Mix Mat and picking up the pigment with my waterbrush to colour the water, landscape & sky. That’s why I needed to use the B pencils for the first part – they’re oil based so didn’t bleed when I watercoloured the rest.

I wanted to add a bit more dimension to the scene, so used the slightly larger bullrushes & leafy branch stamps from the ‘elements’ set on opposite corners to run over the border. With hindsight, I should have done this before watercolouring the background, as I had to wait for that to fully dry first.

To finish, I added a mount of Indian Summer companion paper, with a second narrow white layer, then attached the whole piece to a black 6×6 card blank.

Thanks for dropping in. Bit of a late post today – I’ve been out with friends making holiday plans for next year (but they didn’t involve boats or canals!)
