Hello there and welcome to our new challenge at As You See It! Jane has given us a recipe to play with this time – you need to incorporate all five elements into your card. I’ve used ClarityCrafts ‘occasions sentiments’ as the focus on my card, along with the stripes stencil and nested square doodle frame-it panel dies.

I started with a piece of Clarity’s stencil card and die cut it with one of the nested square film strip doodle frame-it panel dies. I then used the stripes stencil to create a plaid effect, initially brushing ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide through it on the vertical, then turning it to horizontal and adding ‘chipped sapphire’. The ‘occasions sentiments’ have a great selection of fonts, so I used all of them to stamp over the stencilled area, masking some of them where I only wanted one of the words.

I used a large square embedder to emboss a frame onto the front of a 7×7 card blank, then added a layer of navy card to the main topper and attached it to card front. I found some lovely blue checked ribbon in my stash, so to finish I popped a strip of it below the sentiments together with a few dark blue Glossies

So to check this against the recipe, I’ve included the die cut (my panel), plaid (with the stencil), embossing (with the embedder), a strip of ribbon and the Glossies for the dots. How will you put our recipe to use? Come on over to As You See It and play along with us!

Leave it to you to add all those items and yet still have a CAS creation. Eye candy for sure.

I just love this Deborah – so much impact with relatively little in the way of supplies! The multi-directional sentiment is so eye-catching and the touches of blue, especially the enamel dots and ribbon really make the design pop. Fabulous!

Super stenciled plaid, Deb, and I love how you faded it out. It’s also cool how the sentiments fit into the plaid designs. The way you used the ribbon and sparkles was unique!

I LOVE that die! The edging puts me in mind of a piece of hardanger embroidery. Your lovely stencilling and balanced design make this a gorgeous project.
